Writing mission statement for your site

It’s essential to write a mission statement for your site. Like Tweakast, our mission statement is to gather all the tweaks over the world and make it a place for everyone to learn and share. That’s our mission statement even before we build this site. I cannot stress how important it is, mission statement gives you a sense of direction of where you are heading.

A mission statement…

  • Clarifies what you’re creating
  • Clarifies your objectives
  • Prevents your mission from off-tracking
  • Insulates you from the whims of others

Every mission statement should include

  • Who the site is for
  • What the site does
  • How the site differs from its competitors

You need not spend a lot of time on this but mission statement must capture the essence of your site’s purpose and they must be meaningful too.
